Parul’s Story: From Uncertainty to a Future Full of Hope

Parul is a Class 10 student and the eldest among five siblings, four sisters and one brother. She comes from a family where survival itself is a daily struggle. Her father works as a daily-wage labourer, earning only when work is available, while her mother labours in nearby fields to support the household. Due to her father’s drinking, life at home has often been filled with tension, uncertainty, and constant worry because of domestic violence, fights, and physical abuse making it difficult for Parul to focus on her education.

Despite these challenges, Parul always wanted to continue her studies. After completing Class 8, she hoped to move forward, but her family’s financial condition and her father’s addiction made everything uncertain. Her father worried about expenses and questioned the value of educating a girl. As days turned into months, her hopes began to fade. Nearly three months after trying to enrol, Parul found herself left behind watching her younger siblings go to school while she stayed at home, carrying the quiet fear that her dreams might never come true and that she would not be able to secure her siblings’ future either. She felt stuck, as though her future had been pushed into darkness.

Then came a turning point when Rani from Panth Foundation visited her village and held meetings about the importance of girls’ education. Something in Parul shifted. Gathering her courage, she collected her documents and attended one of the meetings. Rani listened to her story with care, spoke to her parents, and took the initiative to intervene with the college principal. She assured Parul that she would find a way whether through admission in the government inter-college or through distance mode.

Her persistence paid off. Parul soon received a call from the government college and was granted admission into Class 9. Alongside this, she joined Panth’s learning centre, where she began receiving academic support and guidance after school. The centre became more than just a place to study, it became a space of belonging.

There, Parul caught up on her lessons, rebuilt her confidence, and found the courage to dream again. The team supported her patiently, and slowly, even her family began to see the value of her education. With Panth’s guidance, her parents started supporting her journey, and the atmosphere at home began to change.

Today, Parul is studying in Class 10 with determination and hope. Her dream is to become a teacher, someone who can return to her community and inspire other girls to continue their education, no matter the obstacles. She now actively encourages girls around her, telling them that if financial struggles or social pressures stand in their way, there is support available they are not alone.

Parul carries deep gratitude for Panth’s team and says, “Their belief in me did more than just bring me back to school, it gave me a future I can now clearly see.”
